Managing Consultant – Native German Speaker


Employed in the UK with a Central London base, with frequent travel to client locations initially in Germany and subsequently across the UK and Europe. Currently travel is about 25% although this may change in line with future requirements. 


This exciting new position will offer the role holder to help shape a new market category in Germany. The role-holder will report to the Head of Consulting in the UK working for a highly successful and entrepreneurial business with a leading brand position and a formidable reputation for innovation and quality.

We are looking for a team member from a consulting background with experience in digital transformation programmes and working within the German digital economy. You will have an excellent communication and interpersonal skills coupled with a solid consulting tool-kit and keen business acumen to turn data into insights which drive success. Main Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of Key Client projects
    • Project/Programme Delivery – Managing complex digital innovation and or transformation consulting projects for blue-chip clients.
      • Devising and delivering innovative approaches to client solutions
      • Managing client interface and senior stakeholder relationships
      • Ensuring commercial integrity of programmes of work
      • Forming and running project teams of Ctrl-Shift consultants
  • Management responsibility for all Ctrl-Shift’s staff consultants deployed on projects
    • Motivation, performance management and development
    • Timely identification of consultant headcount and skill set needs
  • Depending on the candidate, account and new business development responsibilities can be included in the role
    • Targets – revenue, profitability and client/sector – to be agreed with the leadership team – and will cover;
      • Expanding existing client revenue streams
      • Developing new client revenue streams

We are seeking a highly experienced professional who has worked for blue chip consultancies and has proven digital expertise in a B2C environment in relevant sectors and business functions. 


Deep B2C digital expertise gained in a senior consulting role – either fully responsible for or heavily involved in one or more of the following:

  • customer facing digital innovation and transformation
  • business and operating model development
  • the development of supporting capabilities and competencies within the client organisation through programme/project rollout
  • Sectors – Finance, Telecommunications, Retail, FMCG, Media
  • Subject Matter/Functional expertise in one or more of the following: Strategy, Marketing Strategy, Customer Experience, Customer Services, Organisation Development
  • Leadership – led complex matrix teams as well as direct line responsibility for consultants
  • Worked in an agile project management mode
  • Experience and understanding of the European Digital Economy having worked with, or for, prominent European Digital businesses, German businesses an advantage.
  • Business Development – track record of developing additional revenue opportunities with existing clients and opening up completely new client opportunities


  • Native or Native-Level German Proficiency
  • Impressive interpersonal and communication skills – articulate in person and in writing, and able to create and deliver effective and compelling presentations as well as being an excellent listener
  • Highly persuasive, able to influence and move others to action at all levels with an emphasis on building lasting and trusted relationships
  • Team leadership and management skills – able to inspire and motivate as well as enjoy working in a collaborative, team environment
  • Highly commercial – able to balance the complex commercial requirements of our clients and our business, with an orientation toward entrepreneurialism


  • An appetite for hard work and a drive to achieve successful outcomes for clients, whilst working with high levels of ambiguity
  • Proactive, able to work independently and autonomously – taking the initiative and responsibility for achieving programme/project success
  • Emotionally resilient and able to work under pressure, having achieved success in demanding and unpredictable environments
  • Have gravitas – derived from personal success and a confidence tempered with an understanding of personal limitations
  • Not fazed by risk
